Memphis Urban League pushes for Voter Education

Community News Spotlights

Voter Education is more important than ever . . .

The Memphis Urban League and JustMyMemphis have teamed up on a web series entitled “Meet the Candidates”. The concept and idea are pretty simple. More than ever voter education is based on misinformation published on social media and campaign attacks run on local television stations. There is no such thing as truth in advertising. Media outlets want to sell ads and bad political players want to sell a negative narrative to expand their political power. Meet the Candidates gives locals running for office a chance to share their views directly with the general public.

Up Close & Personal

All candidates were invited to sit-down with the #FunCrew of JustMyMemphis. The interviews are published on JustMyMemphis, the new Memphis Urban League website, and to Digital Business Cards for the candidates. Unlike traditional media interviews, this series allows the candidates to truly share their views. Editing is done just to clean-up the quality of the content instead of being done to shape a narrative.  Below are some of the “Meet the Candidate” features.
