Who is Laura Coates?

Laura Coates is an American attorney and legal analyst for CNN. Since 2017, she has hosted a talk radio show, The Laura Coates Show, on SiriusXM’s Urban View. In January 2021, The Laura Coates Show moved to SiriusXM’s POTUS.

She recently came to Memphis as a guest of Willow of Memphis. It was a night of celebration as the Keynote Speaker spoke on her journey to where she is today and how proud she was to witness the announcement of Katanji Brown Jackson as Associate Justice Designate to the Supreme Court.

Local Judges, political candidates, and supporters of Willow Memphis all came out in high fashion for a truly amazing evening in Whitehaven. Laura was presented with statements of appreciation from the Shelby County Government and the State of Tennessee for coming and for her hard work in the fight for justice and equality for all.  

Lexie Carter Shines . . .

The star of the evening was non other than the amazing Lexie Carter. She was the planner, the organizer, and the star. Every detail of the evening from the event style, to the music, and the décor was on a 5-Star level. Lexie is the Editor In Chief at Shelby Democrat Publication. For Lexie, this was a night of support for the Willow Memphis organization. It was also a night to just take a moment to say, “We See You” to Katanji Brown Jackson as Associate Justice Designate to the Supreme Court. We all watched Katanji Brown Jackson being grilled on national television. We watched as this amazing woman held her head high while being condemned for doing the very job she was appointed to do. We watched her stand her ground and defend her steps. Never allowing her grace of character to be broken by those not even qualified to question her on issues of law.

This evening Lexie showed Memphians how to make change, how to be proud, how to celebrate. This was a night in Memphis where three African American Women shined for the excellence they live by.
